Last week I was down at the capitol for the Iowa Association of School Boards and Iowa's Area Education Agencies’ Day on the Hill.

Raced out of the capitol after the house education subcommittee decided to postpone in order to caucus.

We need to slow down the process and consider the consequences of this legislation.

There is a group of about 45 administrators, teachers, parents and students that come together to support the district and provide feedback around district goals.

This legislation would call for the reorganization of Iowa's Area Education Agencies.

The new House Study Bill 542 will impact ALL Iowa schools and students if implemented.

It takes a village to raise a special needs child.

As a teacher, parent and disability advocate I believe my voice has never mattered more.

Last night I spent two hours speaking with a DCG parent and police officer in order to learn more about the role of an SRO in schools.

Last night I received a Facebook message, asking me about school resource officers. At the time I had not heard about the recent incident at Oak View school. I answered this question from my own personal experience.
