There is a group of about 45 administrators, teachers, parents and students that come together to support the district and provide feedback around district goals.
SIAC is a great way to get a pulse on the issues that are a MAJOR priority for Dallas Center - Grimes CSD. This evening we had a guest speaker that specifically addressed concerns and policy around bullying and harassment.
Dr. Blum took sometime to update the group on a number of legislative action items. One item that would benefit from community advocacy is around HSB 542/ SSB 3073. This legislation would eliminate 15 full time employees that were receive through our partnership with Iowa's Area Education Agencies. These positions support both general and special education students.
These bills have been assigned to subcommittees. Please provide public comment asking members to vote NO.
